Who we are

What you type into the quiz

The Interest Map is built from answers you choose to give: interests, a name, and optional notes about work, childhood, and a year you would study. As soon as you answer, a copy is written to local storage in your browser. A second copy is sent to our server under an anonymous id, a random value that lives in that same browser. You can add an email at level four. We use it to find your chart if you ask. We do not sell answers, and we do not use them to train a public model of our own.

On a long-running server the anonymous copy sits in a file under a data directory. If you self-host, that directory is yours. On Railway we mount a volume so the files survive a redeploy. You can clear the browser copy by clearing site data. To remove the server copy, write to hello@yourcallingcompass.com with the anonymous id or the email you stored.

Contact mail

The contact form stores your name, email, and message so Curt can reply. A hidden field catches simple bots and is discarded.

Cookies and measurement

The chart works with no tracking cookies. A banner asks before we load Google Analytics or Google AdSense. If you accept, Analytics uses a cookie to recognize a returning browser, and AdSense may set cookies to measure and, when a publisher id is configured, to show ads. If you reject, those scripts stay unloaded. The choice is kept in local storage under your-calling-compass.consent. Details sit on the cookie page.

Payments

Prints and the career report are not on sale yet. When Stripe is connected, card numbers go to Stripe, not to our server. We will update this page before the first charge.

How long we keep things

Quiz files stay until you ask us to delete them or until we retire a storage volume. Contact messages stay until the conversation is finished and a short while after, then we delete them. Server logs from the host may keep IP addresses for a shorter security window. We do not build advertising profiles of our own.

Children

The quiz is written for adults. If you are under 16, use the site with a parent, and do not send us an email address.

Changes

If the practice changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. The canonical copy is always the one on yourcallingcompass.com.
