Field note
Gift maps, and the consent problem
You can gather notes for someone. You cannot honestly chart a life they have not told you.
A gift Interest Map is a tempting object. It looks like a portrait. The trouble is that a portrait of someone’s inner life, drawn from your guesses, is a confident fiction. We will hold the notes you write: what you have watched them love, what you want the gift to acknowledge. We will not generate a chart and pretend it is theirs.
The respectful version is an invitation. You pay for a print, or you simply send them to the quiz, and they answer for themselves. The poster that comes back is theirs, including the stations you would never have guessed. That surprise is the gift.
If you are collecting notes, write down scenes, not traits. “She stays late in the ceramics studio” is usable. “She is a healer” is you, talking. The form on the gift page saves the scenes. It does not invent the rest.
